This outstanding application from Dansol High School meets the British Council standard for International School Award Reaccreditation. Well done! The basic summary of requirements was shown in the response to your Action Plan in September 2023.
Dansol High School has provided “a summary statement, information about partner school(s), three activities with pupil collaboration with a partner outside Nigeria, an activity featuring modern foreign languages, three more activities with a global or international dimension and one appropriate activity with local schools. These must all be focused on pupils and have an impact on their learning. This is a reaccreditation application and so the assessors are also looking to see that most of the pupils in your school are involved in at least one activity and that the programme is spread across most of the school year.”
Dansol High School has delivered exactly what was required. In fact, you have done far more than this. It would take a very long time to report on every single aspect of the application except that to say it is exceptional. Instead, I am going to pick out a few points which illustrate the excellence and breadth of your submission and the wonderful activities in which your learners and teachers have been involved:
- You have responded to the suggestions on the Action Plan in a most careful and exemplary way. As far as I can tell you have acted on every single point and have described in detail what changes you have made to the activities. I do not need to list everything because you have already mentioned it in your application, but it was enterprising to be able to find new partners globally such as switching Brazil for Uganda.
- For the different topic of UNCRC, you switched Niger for Chad to improve the contrasts. These operational decisions are not always easy, but sometimes they have to be made.
- Overall, I must commend you for the range of schools and other organisations with which you are working, not only on different continents but also close to your own front gate such as Jerare Summit Secondary School.
- Looking at the application more broadly, you have reacted very positively and effectively to the suggestion that there should be an international tab on your website. The product is absolutely spectacular. Not only can the visitor see documents such as the Action Plan and the eight activities, but also various attachments to go with each one. For example, I have just watched some video clips of the ‘La Pourboire’ project going from the rehearsals of “Alleluia” to the performance to an assembly.
- And then there are references to some of the very interesting pupil initiatives such as designing a prototype robot cleaner.
Congratulations to hundreds of staff and pupils for their involvement and especially, I suspect, to a small core group led by Adewale Oyenuga for its energy and commitment in developing this successful application.
Dansol High School can walk the local, national and global stage with pride. Bravo!
